In 2010 he conducted the Vienna Concert-Verein Orchestra in two concerts in Vienna and soon will debut with the orchestra of The Musical afternoons of Milan (symphonies by Haydn and Beethoven) and will conduct the ensemble of the Teatro Regio in Turin it L'Histoire du soldat by Stravinsky. E' inoltre autore delle monografie su Musorgskij, Tchajkovskij, Schoenberg e Sostakovic pubblicate da Skira e apparse con Il corriere della sera.
Alessandro Maria Carnelli ha studiato direzione d'orchestra dal 2000 al 2004 al Wiener Musikseminar Vienna and Erwin Acel, and then perfected in several courses and master classes including St. Petersburg, Florence and summer masterclasses at the Royal College of Music in London and in 1999 he obtained a scholarship of the Foundation of the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth. His training also extends to study piano, organ, baroque composition and musicology.
